The sun was setting...

'They can't see me!'

People are leaving...

'Don't look back!'

Deeds are done...

'Almost there,' she thought as she ran and pushed through the hoards of people. '...just keep going!' she didn't dare look behind her to see if anyone was following. Passerby and bystanders sucked in her whipping airs but with no seen entity creating them, it was dismissed. She knew this city like the back of her hand and with quick jumps and maneuvering; she finally made it to the sewers. No one would follow her there. Not into the pipes. She would be alone there.

"Okay, let's see the catch for today." Seeing none around and silently securing the hatch, she removed her cloak's headpiece and her blue torso amour. After this, she emptied the contents of her bag onto the sewer floor. They were amulets, stolen from various people on airships and in cities. The radiant crystals glowed and you could see the light inside them twinge and cry at being taken away from their owner. "Shh, it'll be all right." She slowly removed her own amulet from under her black shirt. The thief placed it in the middle of the pile of crying amulets and waited. Soon, the glow from the surrounding amulets faded down and the swirling lights inside; usually in the form of their owner, calmed down into what looked like sleep. Her own amulet glowed brightly and died down as well but not into sleep. The glow was dimming because her owner, this thief, was growing tired at having spent so much energy and power.

When you take an amulet away from its owner, it starts to cry and tries to alert them that they are not home. The bag she keeps the amulets in is woven from the hair of a mysterious creature called a matschk-yu, and it cloaks the amulets and tricks them into thinking they are really with their owners.

Amulets are, in small words, the spirit of each person. It's as if when each person from a race is born, a chunk of their soul is taken away from them and made into crystal form. But, when did this start? Was it always like this? No, the humans didn't have any amulets to worry about. "Heh...humans," 'Didn't? As in past tense.' She pondered about all these things and glanced down at her own amulet among the others. There was a white one from a tantl, 3 brown inus, 2 green trokes, an ulisp one in its red glory, 4 blue taigens, 4 yellow simis, 2 minx, and a-. She looked them up and down but no matter how many times she looked there was one that wasn't quite one color. The thief, without her hood, cloak, and armor, held the odd jewel up to her face and removed her mask. With blue eyes she stared in amazement at this crystal that seemed green, red, and pink at the same time.

The only time she'd ever seen a multi-colored amulet was her own rainbowish one and-. Just then, said amulet release a spectrum of light as her heart skipped a beat when she heard a noise. Senses sharpened, she turned her ears into that of a tantl and her nose into that of an inu's. She sniffed the sewer's murky air for the newcomer and listened to see if they were coming closer into her pipe. The thief heard water pouring, stop, and feet pattering away along with a fleeting scent if a monger she passed on the way here. The person lingered for a moment as if looking into the darkness searching for the masked person. After they left, the thief stayed still and listened more to make sure the coast was clear then relaxed and prepared herself for a nap. She retracted her tantl ears, inu nose, and troke scales she released to feel the vibrations of the intruder, and picked up the tri-colored amulet again as well as her own. She studied them both eerily. Hers had the right to be all colors of the races; blue, green, red, yellow, brown, purple, white, pink and so on, but this was green, red, AND pink. This meant that this person had to be part troke, ulisp, and, through reasons she couldn't fathom, human as well.

So many questions popped into her head one after another that she became dizzy. "How old is this person? What do they look like? How could I not have noticed this earlier?" She scrambled her brain to bring images of all the people she stole from to mind. 'I stole from so many today. I can't possibly remember everyone! And the city has been too crowded this week! Arrhg!' the frustration was giving her a huge headache. 'They probably stole it from someone themselves.' She immediately suspended it with that thought and drifted off to sleep after she re-extended her tantl ears so she could hear should anyone try to enter again, and put away all the sleeping amulets.

Hush...

"I'll do it too."

Into the rush...

"Why?"

Be careful what you wish for...

"Because she asked me to"

When titans clash...

"Who?"

You just might get it...

The man towered over her. Fire illuminated his every muscle. Arms bare, fangs snarling, his cloak moving in the wind. She looked up to his eyes. They were covered. A bony mask hid them. He took a step closer, pulled down his hood to reveal long black hair. His form wavered from her vision. Questions were directed, none answered. There were red scales on his chin. Closer he came, resembling impending doom. A wave of darkness, highlighted by a flame. Her vision turned to smokey water, then ash, and black.

That was the first dream where she saw that man. From that first time was born an imprintion onto her skull. He wore a hood and bony mask that hid his eyes. Everytime she dreamed that nightmare, a deep voice would escaped his lips, "Who are you?" Then she could not see him anymore. Everytime she slept, or even closed her eyes for small rest, his dangerous and deadly visage haunted her. Soon, she found sleep hard to find, and at night, she felt it harder to breathe.
