A Street Doughnut's Tale

It's on the side of the road right?
It was once pure then someone made it dirty.
then no one wanted it once they found out.
it tried prettying itself with colorful sprinkles and glaze
but couldn't find the courage to re-enter the bakery where its friends were,
knowing they would laugh at it for being soiled.
So, every night, it stood on a street corner.
dressed in its' beautiful sprinkles and glaze.
people would stop by and ask for the doughnut's 'attention'.
and, excited at the thought of being loved, it would gladly spread its' 'talents'.
Of course, every morning, it would have to report back to Papa Jelly.
The doughnut thought Papa Jelly was so full of it.
but Papa Jelly's abandoned doughnut box was the only home this poor tossed aside doughnut could find. and so here is that doughnut.
Its' hole, worn, from too many fingers.
Its' batter, wrinkled, from the smoke of policemen's coffee.
It's tired, it's lonely, and it's old, and stale.
Won't you come visit the doughnut on the corner?
I heard she's having a sale.
